<\/p>\n\nWith only a few corners remaining in the second race, three cars were battling for victory in the AM class, two of which were contending for the championship. Just two corners before the chequered flag, Jan Krabec made a decisive move, passing the Mercedes SLS AMG of the NM Racing team to claim victory. This manoeuvre sealed his championship win in the increasingly prestigious Fanatec GT2 European Series. <\/p>\n\n
Krabec and RTR Projects were undoubtedly dominant during the final race weekend, winning both races and securing pole positions in qualifying. \u201cWe can now confidently say that we deserved this. We worked tirelessly all season, made no significant mistakes, and I had incredible support from the team,\u201d Krabec reflected on his victorious season. <\/p>\n\n
Krabec entered the weekend in second place in the standings, trailing Klaus Angerhofer, who was racing for the KTM True Racing factory team. \u201cFrom Wednesday, we decided to intimidate our competitors by excelling in qualifying. We made the most of every moment on the track, and the preparation paid off,\u201d Krabec explained. <\/p>\n\n
The team managed to conquer the series in its debut season. \u201cIt\u2019s clear that taking a break after the tough ADAC GT4 season during the pandemic year was the right decision. We returned stronger, stepped up to a more prestigious championship, and managed to outperform bigger teams with far greater resources,\u201d said Tom\u00e1\u0161 Fanta, the team\u2019s managing director, reflecting on their inaugural GT2 season. <\/p>\n\n
The victory in the season finale was attributed to Krabec\u2019s outstanding performance and the team\u2019s meticulous preparation. \u201cWe left nothing to chance. We knew we couldn\u2019t afford a mistake, and the result was two wins and a bonus point for qualifying,\u201d noted the team\u2019s leader and chief engineer. The second race, however, was particularly intense. Krabec fought his way up to second place, chasing the Mercedes SLS AMG of NM Racing. Twice, he had to fend off aggressive moves that nearly pushed him off the track. Meanwhile, Klaus Angerhofer, Krabec\u2019s main title rival, closed in on the battle. To win the championship, Angerhofer needed to claim victory and hope Krabec finished no higher than fourth. <\/p>\n\n
Krabec, however, stayed composed and avoided unnecessary drama. In the final moments, he overtook Stephane Perrin in the Mercedes to snatch first place. \u201cI had planned to settle for second and avoid taking any risks that might jeopardise the finish. But when Perrin made a mistake and left a gap, I went for it. I knew it wasn\u2019t a risky move; at worst, I\u2019d make slight contact with him,\u201d Krabec said, describing the decisive moment. According to team owner Tom\u00e1\u0161 Miniberger, the championship was the result of Krabec\u2019s stellar driving and the team\u2019s exceptional work. \u201cI need to thank the entire team. Everyone performed brilliantly, and we handled every critical situation effectively. Thanks to meticulous work on the car setup, we managed to deliver a very fast car that could compete even against factory teams,\u201d Miniberger remarked. <\/p>\n\n
He also praised the competitiveness of the KTM X-BOW GT2. \u201cWe have a car that is a superb piece of engineering. The results show that it\u2019s a car capable of delivering for both professional and amateur drivers,\u201d he said, referencing the strong performances of other KTM entries during the final weekend. In the second race, Reinhard Kofler and Martin Koch took overall victory, while \u0160tefan Rosina and Gilles Vannelet secured second place.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cThe decision to step into GT2 is proving to be a very good one. Today, GT3 has become almost exclusively a category for factory teams.
