It\u2019s now part of GT3 race weekends, and technical regulation changes should make the cars substantially faster,\u201d explains RTR Projects owner Tom\u00e1\u0161 Miniberger, highlighting the series\u2019 growing potential.<\/p>\n\n<p>Unlike 2023, when Jan Krabec competed solo in the AM class, the team plans to pair him with different co-drivers throughout the season, opening opportunities for other racers.<br\/>\u201cWe see enormous potential in GT2 and want to make this level of European racing accessible to more drivers. Our goal is to diversify the lineup and, if needed, field a second car,\u201d says Miniberger.  <\/p>\n\n<p>For the opening event at Paul Ricard, Krabec will team up with Homola in the prestigious Pro-AM category.<br\/>\u201cWe\u2019re stepping into a new chapter, and we\u2019ll see what it brings. I\u2019m excited to fine-tune the car and collaborate with Ma\u0165o. Last season, we worked with our chief engineer, Tom\u00e1\u0161 Fanta, to continuously make the car faster. It\u2019s playful, turns beautifully, and is a joy to drive. I\u2019m curious to see if we can squeeze even more out of it,\u201d says Krabec.      <\/p>\n\n<p>The updated rules for 2024 are expected to significantly increase speeds across the GT2 grid, with a larger and more competitive field anticipated.<br\/>\u201cWe\u2019ll likely have a lower BoP (Balance of Performance), and we\u2019ve got new dampers. Against the competition, we\u2019ll aim to maximize the car\u2019s low weight advantage,\u201d says team director and chief engineer Tom\u00e1\u0161 Fanta.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Ma\u0165o Homola joins RTR Projects with experience testing the GTX model. He briefly tested the higher-performance but heavier GT2 version during spring trials in Valencia.<br\/>\u201cOverall, I like the X-BOW. It\u2019s responsive, quick, and enjoyable to drive. But the stopwatch and lap times will be the ultimate judge,\u201d says the 29-year-old, a two-time FIA ETCC runner-up.   <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/motormix.cz\/site\/assets\/files\/4754\/dsc01292_jpeg_compressed.774x0-is.jpeg\" width=\"774\"\/><\/p>\n\n<p>Homola will have limited time to familiarize himself with Krabec before Paul Ricard.<br\/>\u201cJan is the reigning AM class champion. We know he\u2019s fast, and I\u2019ll do my best to help us achieve the highest possible finish. My goal is to be, if not the fastest, then close to the fastest KTM on the grid,\u201d Homola says.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Krabec plans to leverage his 2023 experience. Though officially in the AM class, he frequently competed against PRO-AM cars and is familiar with most of the field.<br\/>\u201cEven when racing in AM, we often found ourselves among the PRO-AM cars. I can say I already know most of our rivals,\u201d says the 41-year-old driver.   <\/p>\n\n<p>For now, the duo is confirmed for the first event.<br\/>\u201cMa\u0165o has scheduling conflicts with other racing activities, which opens up opportunities for other drivers to try GT2,\u201d says Fanta.  <\/p>\n\n<p>He believes the GT2 European Series is taking a major step toward greater professionalism.<br\/>\u201cJoining GT3 weekends means more publicity, larger crowds, and more exciting circuits. If we look at the calendar, some tracks are familiar with existing data, while others, like Spa-Francorchamps, Barcelona, and Misano, are among Europe\u2019s most iconic circuits,\u201d Fanta notes.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Other events will take place at Paul Ricard, Hockenheim, and Monza, where Krabec finished in the top three overall during the first race of last season.
