Once the lights went out, Ma\u0165o Homola demonstrated just how the weekend could have unfolded had everything gone to plan. The Slovak rapidly carved his way through the field and, by the start of the pit window, was already running fourth on track. Ahead of him were only endurance veteran Pierre Kaffer, Reinhard Kofler in the second KTM X-Bow, and Freddie Tomlinson in the Ginetta. It was at the RTR Projects pit wall that a decision was made which would prove pivotal on the road to victory. <\/p>\n\n
\u201cMa\u0165o had gotten stuck behind a car during his charge and had quite worn his tyres. Catching the top three was therefore difficult for him. That\u2019s why we called him in earlier than planned. In the end, though, it worked out in our favour. Lenny had clear air and, thanks to that, was able to leapfrog two cars during the pit stops,\u201d explained Tom\u00e1\u0161 Fanta. <\/p>\n\n
By that point, it had become a straight KTM vs. KTM battle. Ahead of Marioneck was Marius Aigner from MZR, who had taken over from Reinhard Kofler. The decisive overtaking move came from Marioneck with 20 minutes remaining, using the slipstream on the main straight and completing his attack in the first corner. He crossed the finish line with a lead of over half a minute. <\/p>\n\n
\u201cIf you put the pre-race issues aside, everything went really smoothly,\u201d praised Marioneck, singling out his entire team, including his teammate. \u201cThe crew did a fantastic job during the pit stops. Ma\u0165o delivered an impressive opening stint, which allowed us to gain positions in the pits. I think we had strong pace throughout the weekend, and even on Saturday, we could have taken victory.\u201d <\/p>\n\n Ma\u0165o Homola returned the praise to Lenny Marioneck. \u201cIt was excellent working with him. He\u2019s a true professional, both as a driver and as a person. He hadn\u2019t raced for a year, so it was tough at first, but he adapted incredibly quickly. He was fast right from the start and kept improving, even in some of the trickier corners,\u201d the Slovak driver explained. <\/p>\n\n This marks RTR Projects\u2019 second overall victory in the GT2 European Series. The Brno-based team has been competing in the championship since 2023. Their first outright win came last year at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, with Ma\u0165o Homola once again on board \u2013 back then sharing the KTM with Jan Krabec. It was Krabec who delivered another major milestone for the team, securing the AM class title in the 2023 season. <\/p>\n\n Homola wrapped up the 2025 season in fourth place in the Pro-Am class standings. Over the course of the year, he shared the car with four different teammates \u2013 first Laura Kraihamerov\u00e1, then Davit Kajaia, followed by Viktor Mr\u00e1z, and finally Lennart Marioneck. With each of them, he reached the podium at least once, while he personally stood on it five times. <\/p>\n\n The RTR Projects team also celebrated in Barcelona thanks to the pairing of Petr Lisa and Ond\u0159ej Rokos in their Mercedes-AMG. The Czech duo secured third and second in the AM class, with Lisa officially sealing his runner-up title for the season. <\/p>\n\n \u201cI\u2019m really pleased,\u201d the Czech driver said. \u201cI want to thank the RTR Projects team for letting me be part of this season. Above all, I have to thank Ond\u0159ej \u2013 without him, I wouldn\u2019t be in GT2. And of course, thanks also to Viktor Mr\u00e1z, with whom I raced two rounds this year in the KTM.\u201d <\/p>\n\n As Petr Lisa mentioned in his speech, not all of this year\u2019s races were contested alongside Ond\u0159ej Rokos. Rokos missed the rounds at Spa-Francorchamps and Misano to spend time with his newborn daughter. This is why he cannot claim the runner-up title and instead finishes the season in fifth place overall. <\/p>\n\n Over the course of the season, Petr Lisa stood on the podium a total of nine times. Seven of those came alongside Ond\u0159ej Rokos, while two were achieved with Viktor Mr\u00e1z in the KTM. It was with the Slovak driver, however, that he secured his best result of the year \u2013 the pair triumphed in the second race at Spa-Francorchamps. In the championship, only the dominant Philippe Prette in the Maserati finished ahead of Lisa, having won 10 of the 12 races. <\/p>\n\n Although missing two races denied Ond\u0159ej Rokos the runner-up title, it doesn\u2019t change the fact that he looks back on his debut season in the GT2 European Series positively. \u201cI feel that I\u2019ve made huge progress this year. The improvement has been really significant. I owe that mostly to Petr and the entire RTR projects team, because without them I wouldn\u2019t have achieved this in such a short time,\u201d he reflects. <\/p>\n\n Petr Lisa echoes Rokos\u2019s praise. \u201cI think that in just two years he has put in so much work and shown such incredible progress\u2014it\u2019s almost unreal. I really take my hat off to him. What he delivered in Barcelona during qualifying was an absolutely phenomenal performance,\u201d he commends. <\/p>\n\n That brings the 2025 GT2 European Series season to a close.
